Until We're Strong Enough to Stand: A Listening Session from
New Jersey’s Community Health Workers
Join the teams from Togather and FIREWORX for the culminating
Listening Session of Stories in Service, an initiative that
uplifts the voices of New Jersey’s Community Health Workers (CHWs) on
the frontlines of HIV care. Hosted in collaboration with the New
Jersey HIV Community Support and Development Initiative, this virtual
event takes place Wednesday, August 20, 12:00–1:30pm ET.
Learning Objectives:
-
Recognize how storytelling can strengthen HIV prevention and care
by fostering healing, reflection, and advocacy among CHWs and the
communities most impacted by HIV.
-
Explore the value of lived experience as a form of expertise in
reducing stigma, encouraging HIV testing, and promoting biomedical
prevention and treatment adherence efforts.
-
Develop skills in crafting and sharing narratives that highlight
resilience, challenge, and transformation in the context of HIV
diagnosis and care journeys.
-
Identify how narrative practices can support mental well-being,
build trust, and encourage community-wide engagement in HIV services.
-
Strengthen bonds among CHWs and HIV service providers by sharing
stories that deepen empathy, solidarity, and collective commitment
to ending the HIV epidemic.
This event is open to HIV service providers, community-based
