Infection Control and Post-Exposure Management for the Oral
Healthcare Provider
Course Description: Program fulfills the NYS licensure requirements
mandated by NYS Education Department for infection control and
includes post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for occupational exposure and
the current guidelines. Upon completion of course a 4-year NYS
certificate will be provided.

Objectives:

Identify risks for transmission of bloodborne pathogen (BBP) in
the dental setting.

Define methods of reducing risk.

Review principles of managing occupational exposures in the
dental setting.

Review CDC/OSHA/PEP guidelines

Establish a protocol for occupational exposures.

Educate health care providers regarding PEP options before risk
for an exposure.
